6-5-2012 Transit of Venus

Oof, coming off my celestial events high.  Between the Annullar eclipse and the Transit of Venus I am spaced out for the moment.  How cool that here in California we got to see two such events in our own backyard.

We had a lot of air movement in the Bay Area for both events which was problematic and  my Meade ETX 90 is a pretty shakey unit.  Its lightness is great for carrying it around, but it has a vibration problem even when mounted on a brutally heavy tripod.

So, the image above is from a Canon 5D mrk 2 with an ISO set at 5000.  The high  ISO allows shooting at faster shutter speeds in an effort to mitigate camera and scope movement.
