Waitin on wind.

Nothing special about today. No, lessons learned in terms of mechanical boat stuff, no fiberglass or revelations about the S22. No, the only special thing about the day was that it was a thoroughly typical beautiful day to be sailing on the South Bay.

As opposed to the last time out, I got out early, maybe a little too early. Spent a good bit of time ghosting about and generally shadowing the "Makani Kai". Had the radio on and kept my hat on, because it was hot even when I could hide in the shade of the sails.

The smog rising up from the cityscape all around was impressive, a constant brown haze. As the wind fills in and starts blowing down from the northwest, the smog thickens as it is pushed and compressed ahead of the pressure wave. Finally some wind and the gps registers something above a couple mph. I decide to take a few beam reaches out and back, marveling at the difference a bit of breeze makes. Before heading in, I decide to look over a house boat, really nothing more that an aluminum travel trailer on a barge, that is anchored out. When the wind builds and the tide ebbs, I don't think it would be a good place to try an anchor out in the middle of it.
