Bottom Job Done....

The bottom job is done, at least for now.  The instant it goes back in the water it starts to slide.  I used Pettit Hydrocoat bottom paint.  Hopefully I'll be able to comment upon how well it has worked after a while.  We put at least three coats on the foils and the water line.  At least two coats everywhere else.

The sail from BMC back to Alameda was a study in contrasts.  Heading out we had light airs which gradually built till we got to the end of the Berkeley Pier where things were around 25-30 knots.  I have a new crew member, Steve, who managed to get on the wrong side of the sheets on a tack and was nearly thrown off the deck.  Hopefully this is one of those, do it once and never again kind of things.  Dave was ready to grab him when he managed to get back on deck and climb to the high side. A rite of passage for any foredeck person on a Santana.

I took us up to the lee of Treasure Island and from there the wind grew lighter and lighter all the way down the estuary.  Now Dayspring is back in her slip.

Relaxing post slot in the the lee of TI.
