Whisker Pole and downwind sets

After our last, some might say, harrowing, I would say humbling, outing I decided to get out for a short sail on the warm estuary and practice poling out the jib with Steve.  We spent a little time measuring the forestay and checking the rigging tension before heading out as I was really concerned after the observations of the last race.  To me the tension looks good, but the forestay is about 6 inches short.  I don't know how I am going to address that.  I have the wire and new toggles to replace it, guess I should just do it.

Regardless, we had a very constructive and pleasant bit of sailing.  Now we just need some more heavy wind practice.
