"Quick" loop Alum Rock Park

5-28

Got out for a ride today, the first after the injury. Wanted an easy ride that could still get the blood pumping. Opted for a ride through Alum Rock Park. There was a little more pedestrian traffic (hikers) than usual, especially a weekday before noon.

Parked at the entrance and rode up the creek trail to the old entrance road. Right up the hill and then turned left on the South rim road (for lack of the real name). Took this down and then up the South rim trail which is allows bikes.

The short, but technical climb up the "Quick" loop. Lots of very tall plants from the rains had me keeping an eye out for ticks. Then the quick return to the parking lot as it is all downhill except for one 50 yard quick uphill. My bike is really hard to keep the front wheel down when it gets steep. All because there are no one inch steerer tube forks being made anymore. It was always light in the front, but now it is a little like riding a mountain chopper. The geometry of the frame is all thrown off. I have to keep the air pressure a little low in the fork to have a little more "sink" to it. Less travel, though.
